More than thirty horror authors announced today that they are coming together this Halloween to offer book lovers a bewitching deal on almost fifty witch-themed ebooks on October 30, 31, and November 1, 2012. Bargain hunting readers will find that a spell has been cast, magically lowering sale prices, which will range from free to $2.99 with the majority of ebooks being sold for 99 cents.
Although their ebooks share a similar witchy theme, the cauldron-stirring group of authors has approached the subject many different ways, from frightening to fun and from historical to hysterical. Some authors crossed genres, mixing romantic comedy with their witchcraft while others stuck to traditional hard core horror featuring evil witches. The event was created by Christopher Tarwater, husband of author Tristan Tarwater, who is participating in the promotion. Though not a writer himself, Christopher came up with the promotional idea to support his wife and her fellow authors. This is Christopher's sophomore outing organizing an event like this. He previously ran one at the beginning of the summer which was declared "Fantastic – the best results I ever had for a promotion!" by author Darren Pillsbury.
Gay Coming Out Novel Discounted For National Coming Out Day 2012
Author Matthew W. Grant announced today that, in celebration of National Coming Out Day on October 11, 2012, the ebook version of his gay coming out novel, Zach's Secret, has been discounted effective immediately at select ebook retailers until October 22, 2012. During that time frame, the ebook will be reduced 25% from its regular retail price of $3.99, making it available for $2.99. For those without ereaders, the paperback version is part of Amazon's 4-for-3 promotion in which readers buy four eligible items and get the lowest-priced item free.
Matthew explained that Zach's Secret deals with many timely topics. "In addition to the character of a gay high school student coming to terms with his sexuality as he falls for the new jock on campus, the novel also explores themes of bullying, prejudice, finding first love, and the battle over the formation of a Gay-Straight Alliance at a small town high school."
Matthew's screenplay adaptation of the novel was a finalist in a contest sponsored by Script Magazine. The ebook version of Zach's Secret is available at a variety of online retailer websites including Amazon (Kindle), Barnes & Noble (Nook), Apple (iTunes, iBooks, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch), Sony (Sony Reader) and in multiple ereader formats at Smashwords, All Romance Ebooks, OmniLit, Kobo, and Diesel. The paperback version is also available at Amazon.
