Dear Ms. Mottoran,
Please accept my application package for the Culinary Chef position as detailed on the Canyon Hills Public Schools website.
The field of Culinary Arts is more than an interest of mine; it has been a way of life for my family and me. I literally grew up in the business, as we owned Great Eats, a local Canyon Hills favorite for the past 36 years. During that time, I learned and managed every aspect of the business including: meal presentation, serving, vendor relations, bookkeeping, staff supervision, and, of course, cooking. In fact, for the past 11 years, I was also the Head Chef.
Though saddened that we recently closed the business due to my father’s retirement, I’ve turned the closing into an opportunity to share my expertise and enthusiasm with others by enrolling in the Career and Technical Program at Rakeland University. My in-service experience at Thandem County High School affirmed my passion for the field of education. I was able to apply the patience and excellent communication skills I sharpened over the years in the restaurant in the new and challenging environment of positive instructor-student interactions.
Please note that I am also Food Certified with the state and T.I.P.S Certified. I have also passed the four courses required for N.O.T.I. Certification and I’m currently awaiting the next announced test date from the Department of Education.
My resume and transcripts are attached for your review. I look forward to interviewing with you.
Sincerely,
Marcy Huggins
