Lieutenant Anderson is the rangers’ boss. He is nothing like them. He is a straight-laced, stuffed shirt type. The rangers think he has been around since the mountain was first formed. He is accustomed to working with professionals and is not happy that he has these two bumbling idiot rangers to deal with on a daily basis. He is always frustrated with them because they never, ever do anything right.
The audience never sees the boss. We only catch glimpses of him- his foot, hand, sleeve, back, hat, etc. He will also be hidden by action shots. As the camera is about to shoot him, he turns his chair around, or bends over to pick something up and we never get a complete shot of him.
He only puts up with these rangers because he can not get anyone else to work on the mountain. He knows that “real rangers” work at Yellowstone and he has to take the people that were at the bottom of their classes in ranger school. Lieutenant Anderson himself used to work at Yellowstone and misses the good old days.
